Has anybody used flip window or a slide window on your car. I'm here in Florida and summer is coming up. I would like to use something like this so I don't have to roll my window up and down. Any information would be useful. Thanks

A fellow carrier out of Mn uses a piece of plex glass cut to fit in the window rails , to keep the wind and most of the rain out. He has a jeep cherokee. I could get the pattern for it. He says it isn't perfect, but it makes a lot of difference on the rain and cold.It doesn't have a flip door , but it is cheap and helps a lot. I would guess it cuts down on the size of pkgs that you could get out of the window, and would have to open the door to deliver. I always thought it would be a bigger hassle than it was worth. DC

I have one I made for my 95 Chevy PU, - This one is the second generation-The first flipped up & kept the rain off really well, but was a bear to keep closed & I could not stick my head out to reach boxes that were farther from the truck than I had anticipated. The second generation flips out towards the front & gets closed and latched by the wind when driving off- I could send you pictures if you want. Installs in about 5 minutes. It does not modify the vehicle in any way. The hardest thing is keeping the water out when it rains-- I use the blue painters tape-- Cost me about 75 bucks for materials (mostly the lexan) . I used aluminum angle because I could cut it with tin snips. I used pop rivets and small bolts to hold everything together. I made some clamps out of flat aluminum, which attaches to the window and presses on the original window seals at 4 points to hold it in place with wing nuts & bolts. There is one available (google flip window) for around a hundred bucks to fit Jeeps, but I do not know if they make one for other vehicles. I wouldn't drive without one, as I stay cool in the summer & warm in the winter. Unless the rain is coming down in buckets, I stay quite dry until I open the window. But it is open only just long enough to drop the mail in the box (hopefully not in a puddle) then when I drive off it shuts & latches. Email me for pictures-- It's kinda funky, but I've had a lot of compliments from customers.

I bought one through an ad in the NRLCA magazine. It was advertised as a hands free window. I think it came from Louisiana. The right side window on the car I was using then was getting real slow. I liked the hands free window . It didn't keep all of the rain out if it rained hard and I was setting at a box, but for the most part it worked well. It was hinged on the front so the wind pushed it shut as I drove away from a box. I didn't have to alter the car, I just put the window down and tied the hands free window in with 2 shoe strings at the front of the door. It fit in the window channel. It was made of plexiglas.

Make my own flip window for both a 2006 & 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Made of see thru polycarbonate sheets and hinge. Flip it open at a box, rear view mirror holds it open. When you take off, the wind makes it shut. You can also roll up the vehicle window on the inside of the flip window so that what's inside is secure. A little difficult to install, but once installed, you never have to uninstall the flip window.

See my page for more photos.

Just bought a flip window from postal things. I love it. they only thing is make sure you have the little dowel for the vent window or it falls down in the door (Personal experience) . Ti keeps the rain out and is a lot warmer inside in this cold weather. I didnt even have to turn the heat on. Another thing I took the spings off for easier access to the boxes. but your in Florida so you dont have to woory about cold winters do you? good Luck

Lynn
